About RSM-Houston:

Located in Houston, this is the second Texas branch of the award-winning Russian School of Mathematics. Students from the surrounding communities of Houston, West University Place, Sugar Land, and Katy attend our classes regularly.

As a student, your child can get a rich classroom experience, our alternative to math tutoring in Houston. It allows students to develop critical thinking and the problem-solving skills they need to excel in all areas of school and life.

Our curriculum includes:

  • Grades K-12 Mathematics (with several levels of challenge for each grade)
  • Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Algebra II
  • Geometry
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Calculus
  • Test Preparation for the ISEE, SAT I, SAT II, ACT and AP Calculus tests

In addition to our regular classes, RSM students can participate in MOEMS (Math Olympiads) preparation teams and several SAT preparation workshops.

About the Principal

Anna Toneva, Principal

Anna Toneva

Education: B.A., M.S. Double major in Teaching; focus in Science & Mathematics. Minor in Physics.

Anna Toneva graduated with a double major in Physics and Mathematics and two big dreams to choose from: to become an astronaut or a teacher. She chose the second option, so she could convey the beauty of mathematics to young children. The connections she made with her students, some of whom she still keeps in touch with, are her proof that she made the right choice. In 1993, she moved with her family to the U.S. and became a successful teacher. She worked for more than 20 years teaching mathematics at all levels in an excellent public school where the children earned good grades; however, the system failed to spark the magic of their inner mathematician.

Anna Toneva joined RSM after being impressed by the depth of knowledge demonstrated by the students who attended RSM, by the uniqueness of the methodology, and most of all by the students' assertiveness and joy of math.

As a Principal at RSM, Anna is committed to working hard to ensure that every child receives the right placement, strategy, and governance to best stretch their abilities, to give them a solid foundation in mathematics, and to develop their critical thinking, so they have the greatest chance for success in life.
