Registration Fee

There is no additional registration fee for taking an NMCP class, as families pay the fee for registering for their regular RSM class(es) for the year. There is an annual $100 registration fee per child at RSM.

Tuition & Payment Policies

RSM has partnered with Smart Tuition, a tuition management company, to allow our parents more flexibility in paying their tuition and fees. Please use the Smart Tuition account you created when you registered for your regular RSM class(es) for NMCP tuition payments. With your login you can access your billing statements and payment history, or make a payment online at any time.

  • Payment Plans.  Smart Tuition offers two payment plans for the academic year:

  • A Semester Plan. Fall tuition (Sep to Jan) is due by Aug 1st & Spring Tuition (Feb to Jun) is due by Jan 1st.

  • A Monthly Plan. Tuition is due on Aug 1, Sep 1, Oct 1, Nov 1, Dec 1, Jan 1, Feb 1, Mar 1, and Apr 1. Each payment covers 4 lessons.  Please note that due to the extra invoices, Smart Tuition does charge a $45 administration fee (per family, per year) for the monthly plan.

  • Tuition is Charged One Month Ahead. Regardless of payment plan, all tuition is charged one month ahead (so for example October tuition will be charged no later than September 1st, and September tuition is due in August). Charging one month ahead allows RSM to plan ahead and enforce our cancellation policy.

  • Late Fees.  All payments are due on the 1st of the month. A $35 late payment fee is applied to your account if payment is not received by Smart Tuition by the 5th of the month.  Aside from students who joined mid-month, for whom payment is due before their 1st lesson, Smart Tuition will automatically send an invoice to families who owe a payment 2 to 3 weeks before a payment is due.

  • Payment Methods. SmartTuition can process payment by mail, online or over the phone via a check, bank account or credit card. Payments by check or ACH debit are free, but Smart Tuition does charge a  2.65% credit card processing fee for credit card payments. SmartTuition can also process cash payments, but will charge a $4.99fee for cash payments of up to $1,000.

  • Paying By Check.  Smart Tuition offers both a 24 hour automated telephone payment method and accepts checks by mail. If paying by check please include the Family ID in the memo field.

  •  Phone: (888) 868-8828 (please have your Family ID and checkbook ready)

  •  Online:  https://parent.smarttuition.com/

  •  East Coast:   Smart Tuition, P.O. Box 11731, Newark, NJ 07101-4731 OR

  •  West Coast:  Smart Tuition, P.O. Box 54228, Los Angeles, CA 90054-0228

  • Returned Check or Failed ACH Fee. A $30 failed debit fee will be charged for each returned check or failed auto-debit. Please be careful when entering your routing and account numbers online.

Withdrawal, Refunds, and Cancellation Policy

We are committed to making sure every child has a great experience at RSM. Sometimes we may need to work together to find the right class options for your child. Please get in touch with us early if you have concerns about your child’s progress or are in any way dissatisfied.

New students may withdraw from our program at any time within their first four months of enrollment. We only ask that you give us one month notice and allow us to find an alternate class placement for your child. If we can't find the right placement for your child, we will refund the tuition for any months after the one month notice (see "Withdrawal Policy for New Students" below for more detail).

We believe that Mathematics cannot be taught in the space of a few lessons and we ask that continuing students familiar with RSM make at least a term based commitment to the program and will only refund tuition for continuing students during the first six lessons of the year (see below).

If you do decide to withdraw your child from school, please email our school with:

  • Your child's full name

  • The date of the last class he/she attended

  • The reason for withdrawal.

We always appreciate any feedback, so please tell us your honest feedback.

Withdrawal Policy For New Students

New students can cancel at any point during their first four months of enrollment with one month notice (via email). Our cancellations are processed on a monthly basis. For example, if you intend to cancel in December, we must be notified no later than November 1st. If we receive notice on November 15th, your enrollment will be cancelled as of January 1st (the next billing cycle after the one month notice). Tuition for the current month WILL NOT be refunded.

Withdrawal Policy For Continuing Students

Refund of the Fall Term (September - December) will be processed, only after the school receives a written notification, as follows:

  • 100% of tuition (all 4 months) is refunded if the notification is received before the start of classes

  • 75% of tuition (the last 3 months) is refunded if the notification is received before the second lesson

  • 50% of tuition (the last 2 months) is refunded if the notification is received before the third lesson

  • 25% of tuition (the last 1 month) is refunded if the notification is received before the fourth lesson

  • There are NO REFUNDS for the Fall semester after the 5th lesson

For continuing students withdrawing during the Spring Term (January-March), a FULL REFUND will be issued if a withdrawal notice is received by January 1st. After January 1st no refunds will be issued for the Spring Term.

Parent Responsibility

Parents of the online student will be responsible for creating a comfortable learning environment that is quiet and free of distractions.

The online nature of the course requires other special considerations. There is no anonymity in our physical classrooms and there will be none in our online environment. Children will be addressed by name and be asked to share a live video of themselves with their classmates.

Parents are fully responsible for children’s behavior and safety while in the virtual classroom. Children are expected to behave as if they were taking classes in person, always treating teachers and peers with dignity and respect.

We  work with students individually to identify and mitigate any technical issues. We reserve the right to exclude candidates based on class capacity or technology considerations.

Student Responsibility

Our classes and homework require focused attention, and the program material is more challenging than in regular classes. NMCP is designed for ambitious and motivated students, and we expect that students will be as invested in their participation as our teachers are invested in their development and success.

We reserve the right to remove a student from our program if our teachers or administrators consistently notice any of the following:

  • Lack of active participation (out loud or via the classroom chat)

  • Missing or incomplete homework assignments

  • Behavior that violates our RSM classroom rules

We will notify parents and give the student a warning if we believe they are not participating in the program according to our guidelines. If the behavior or issue is not addressed, we may take action to remove the student from the class. In that case, no refund will be issued.

We understand that it can take some time to adjust to the Virtual Classroom and to a new class, so if your child is struggling or you have any concerns about their comfort in the class, please do not hesitate to reach out to their teacher or to nmcp@russianschool.com. We want to work with you and your child to create the best experience possible.

School Cancellations

In the event of school cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, a cancellation notice will be sent to your email address. Cancellations may not coincide with those of your local branch or town.

In case of unexpected power or network outages, an NMCP class may get cancelled without notice. We will do our best to notify you as soon as possible if this is the case.

All classes cancelled by NMCP will be made up.

Enrollment Priority

Online classes have a very limited capacity. NMCP will consider applications in the order in which the original request was received.

Privacy Policy

We do not allow parents to be present during the online lesson or to make recordings of the lessons. The parents of our students did not give us their permission to make pictures and videos of their kids public or to let an adult be present during the the class.

Please treat an online class in the same way you would treat a regular class. If you do not follow your kid into a regular classroom, please do not do it in the online classroom as well.

Missing or Late to Class Policy

If a child misses a class or is significantly late in entering the online classroom, they will not be able to make up that time by joining another class of that level.

To ensure that students do not fall behind, they have access to the classwork problems and homework in their Student Portal, along with Chapter References to help them understand and review material. We also encourage them to attend a homework help session, after they have tried to work on the homework on their own, so that they can catch up and be familiar with some possible approaches to solving the problems.

Homework

Homework assignments will be provided at the end of each lesson. As well, the classwork assignments covered during a lesson will be available in the Online Homework system for each student. You can read more about our Online Homework system at http://www.russianschool.com/online-homework.

At the discretion of the teacher, students may be asked to send in scans or photos of their paper homework.

All problems where the solution is in the form of a proof must be scanned/photographed and sent to homework.files@russianschool.com. Proofs are the foundation of mathematical thinking, and it is important for our teachers to be able to analyze a student’s logic to give them effective feedback.

Math Competitions

We strongly advise our students to participate in all kinds of national and local mathematics competitions, including the American Mathematics Competition (AMC), Math Kangaroo, the RSM Foundation International Math Olympiad (IMC), and others.

For our younger students (6th grade and below), participating in the AMC 8 is a great way to try out the world of national math competitions.

For older students (7th grade and above), participating in the AMC 8, 10, and/or 12 is an essential component of being an NMCP student.

We require that participating students report their scores on all competitions to NMCP, for our internal records. We do not share your child’s score with anyone, but it is important for us to keep track of our students’ progress as a measure of the success of our program.

Taking the AMC exam is free of charge and most RSM branches offer students a chance to take it there. If your local branch does not, many local middle and high schools also host the competition. If you cannot find a location that administers the test near you, we will help you locate one. In the weeks leading up to a competition date, NMCP classes will focus on taking practice tests and analyzing the problems to prepare for the exam.
